king bhumibol adulyadej was a popular king in thailand. he is known for the charity work that he has done throughout the years and was respected by many people so there are people who are following his footsteps in helping the needy. and one project of his is the self sustainable program where people can learn to live a sustainable live and be happy.
moreover, in buddhism country like thailand, there is a teaching that if you make merit in this life, you will have a better life after your incarnation, so it is normal to make merit or help the poor in thailand.
the purpose of this film is to make the audience feels inspired to do good things to other through our main character as an example. the execution of this film is that we show the difference in mindset of a "normal" people who work only for themselves and the mindset of our main character who work for "happiness of others". in additional, the message also implies that you don't need to be rich first before you start to help others. all you need to do is to actually do it.
