We created a customized handcrafted knife set to match the unique size of a Babybel cheese. The sets were released in limited edition, and were distributed amongst popular social influencers in the UK. This promoted a gourmet experience and pointed out that Babybel is a premium cheese that can also be enjoyed by adults.
Execution
The product includes: a customized knife set and a cheeseboard.
The blades of the knives are steel plated and cut on a water stream cuter. The knife handles are made of tropical palm wood and perfectly curved on a milling cutter. The cheeseboard itself is made of oak.
The set was then placed inside a box. The inside of the box was created from kappa-board and laser cut. The exterior of the box was created from paper with transparent plastic windows and was manually put together.
Outcome
The Babybel Knife Set was released in March 2017, and it was distributed to targeted social influencers across the UK. The set aided in raising brand awareness and promoted the cheese to a new audience whom had previously regarded the cheese as a snack only for kids.
Strategy
To showcase the unique size of Babybel, we created customized packaging and a product that featured a tiny knife set and a miniature wooden cheese board. The product was relevant to the brand given its small size and aided in elevating the brand experience. The target was young adults and was sent to popular social media influencers across the UK.
Synopsis
People see Babybel as a snack just for kids. To change that, we created a unique gourmet experience for adults. We designed a customized knife set that matched the unique size of a Babybel cheese. This limited edition set was launched to a small, targeted audience and produced on a tight budget.
