#Bodycantwait raised worldwide awareness on the desperate medical situation of low-income countries: the long waits disabled people have to face in isolated areas.
The broken statues spoke for amputees worldwide and helped Handicap International make this 3D technology available soon for populations in Western Africa, Middle East and South Asia.
BriefExplanation
The challenge was to find the perfect use of media to support Handicap International’s cause and help them make 3D technology for prosthetics available as soon as possible for the disabled populations in Western Africa, the Middle East and South Asia.
We chose an unconventional medium and developed the idea that broken statues around Paris could speak for amputees worldwide with a single-minded message #bodycantwait.
These statues, including the famous Venus de Milo, and various others in the Jardin des Tuileries and the Parc Monceau were fitted with fake 3D prosthetic limbs for everyone to see. Over a period of 24 hours, these statues became the spokespersons for our message: No more bodies in the world should have to wait this long to be repaired.
