BriefExplanation

Clash Royale — the world's most played multiplayer games.

We gave the original characters makeover for the Japanese audiences to feel more close and re-designed them in Japanese “Anime" style.

The film was made in a style of typical Japanimation opening sequence.

EntrySummary

Clash Royale is one of the most popular smartphone games around the world.

Yet, in Japan market, it has been struggling to attract the users.

The gaming market is very competitive. Many rivals exist.

If the users found the game is not interesting at first glance, then it will be instantly buried.

This applied to Clash Royale; the original characters looked very westernized for Japanese eyes as their style reminded them Pixar animation; they felt distanced.

Idea

We asked a ‘Japanimation’ character designer to give the originals makeover and then created 3D characters with toon shading technique. We also added traditional cel animation texture on motion graphics.
