BriefExplanation

We open with a famous scene of 'City of God', one of Meirelles most celebrated movies. Cut, we see the film director in a studio, as he starts to recite about the legacy he's going to leave in an emotional way. The image is in B&W and the soundtrack also helps to build up the emotion. To help the storytelling, the Meirelles studio scenes are interwoven with images of his works, combined with some movie set imagery of some of his most famous works, such as 'Blindness' and '360'. At the end, he tells his talent was already going to remain on the screens. But he wanted it to be immortalized in an even more special place: the eyes of those who need. Then, we reveal Meirelles is an organ donor and invite people to do the same.

EntrySummary

To be an organ donor in Brazil, one has to manifest their wish to a family member since in the case of a fatality the final decision lies with the family. That's why it is so important to encourage people to express their desire in life.

Currently, the organ donations and transplants in Brazil are decreasing, mainly because people do not declare themselves as donors. The waiting list for an organ is so long it may take years. Therefore, Santa Casa periodically conducts awareness campaigns to the population.

The organs and tissues that can be obtained from a deceased donor are: lung, liver, kidney, heart, pancreas, intestine, cornea, veins and arteries, valve, skin and bones. The procedure to remove organs and tissues is the same as a surgery, this means that the donor can be veiled as usual. Age is not limiting factor for donating.
