CampaignDescription
Let’s Play is the first 3D pinball experience in webGL, which takes you on a brightly coloured, energetic adventure. This playful territory enhances the excitement of being able to travel.
The online pinball experience was created so that people could discover OUIGO’s fun vision of travelling around France.
The train quickly turns into a pinball and zips across a playfield representing France and the various regions, where OUIGO travels to. There are special missions for each of the 5 main cites (Nantes, Marseilles, Paris, Bordeaux and Lille). The missions relate to the various regions - the North (a mussels and French fries mission), Brittany (a lighthouse mission) and Paris (a Moulin Rouge mission)…
The player wins points with each completed mission. The completion of the various missions lights up the letters of the word OUIGO. When all the letters are lit up, the player hits the jackpot.
Execution
The game launched on the 17th March last year and is still accessible today, achieving great user scores thanks to its ease of access.
The web pinball game was crafted by a team of 15+ passionate people: designers, 3D artists, creative technologists and developers, motion and sound designers, producers. We used a combination of webGL technology to run the realtime 3D graphics, on top of a 2D physics engine to control the interactions between the ball and the set. We had to create the game’s visual environment at the same time as the TV spot. The 3D models were simplified at the most, in order to be processed by the web browser on a mobile phone, while keeping the spirit of the rich and colorful visual universe. Such an edgy production was required to create a unique production pipeline, allowing designers and developers to work together through iterations. We ended-up creating the first realistic online 3D pinball game, capable of running in your web browser, on your smartphone!
An arcade machine was also specially designed for tournaments.
