The Sunday Times Rich List is one of The Sunday Times’ key circulation drivers. Published annually since 1989, it is a list of the 1,000 wealthiest people in the UK and its enduring popularity means the newspaper attaches great importance to it. The Rich List advertising is essential in driving anticipation of the Rich List’s release every April.

This year’s ‘Fortunes Told’ campaign used Tarot cards to tell the stories of how the nation’s highest-earning celebrities and business personalities made their respective fortunes. The campaign focused on well known celebrities who feature within the Rich List, and references key elements of their narrative: including strife of boy band One Direction, the progression from sport and music to global domination for husband and wife David and Victoria Beckham, and various business ventures of entrepreneur Richard Branson.
