Write a short summary of what happens in the film

Each film is centered around a simple locked off shot showing the natural ebbs and flows of an environment such as the shoreline, the rainforest, or woodland. Each film is 4 hours long, and is designed to perfectly imitate similar ‘nature videos’ on YouTube. The sound design is built around the environmental recording with nothing more than a standard mix. That’s it, just natural environments on loop for hours, that not only help to calm viewers, but passively generate revenue to protect the environments featured.

Cultural / Context information for the jury

Covid-19 has left one in ten UK charities facing bankruptcy as public donations and government funding have been redirected to support the struggling NHS. Meanwhile, environmental problems haven’t gone away and are only getting worse. Put simply, environmental NGO’s needed to find new ways to generate income without taking all of their time away from essential work. Preservation Play does that. Although still in its infancy, when you consider the half billion views that this genre of content has accrued to date, it’s easy to see that the potential future revenue stream for charities is considerable. And because the only work these NGOs have to do to tap into this ongoing revenue stream is to simply sign a partnership, they have more time for the important work.
