Overview
Credits
Write a short summary of what happens in the film.
Set to the classic holiday tune, “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” Jimmy Fallon goes about experiencing all the not-so-wonderful aspects of the season while enjoying his Frito-Lay snacks fit for every holiday occasion. He plays 10 different characters throughout the film and interacts with himself, a chip stealing Yeti, an animatronic popcorn snowman, and his family in a whimsical holiday wonderland. In the end, he’s reminded of the reason we put up with the season’s minor annoyances- the joy it brings to the ones we love.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
Underneath the gifts, parties, and treats, the holidays can be a stressful, busy, and even lonely time of year. Share More Joy pokes fun at the seasonal stresses – the entire family showing up, bad gifts, and naughty cousins while keeping the fun and festive feelings of the holiday.
Tell the jury about the visual effects and summarise any relevant challenges or techniques.
We took a 90-degree, sunny Los Angeles and a rainy, cloud-covered Long Island, New York and turned them into a whimsical winter wonderland through a combination of practical effects and cutting-edge CGI with a team of VFX artists, puppeteers, and stop motion artists from around the world. Our giant lumberjack was shot on a green screen, while our seven-foot double-dipping stop motion monster and animatronic popcorn snowman were hand sculpted and animated to give the spot a sense of nostalgia for the beloved holiday specials from decades past. There is not a single frame of the spot that doesn’t have a VFX enhancement, whether giving a meticulously crafted practical set a holiday glow, or creating the entire environment via CGI. Every tool possible was used to make it the most wonderful time of the year.
