Write a short summary of what happens in the film

The opening title sequence of HBO’s “The Sopranos” is one of the most iconic openings in television history. In it, Tony Soprano drives from Manhattan to his home in New Jersey in a 1999 Chevy Suburban. To dramatically demonstrate that the all-new, all-electric Chevy Silverado is a next-generation truck, for a whole new generation of people, we worked with the show’s creator, David Chase, to film a modernized, scene-by-scene reshoot of the famous opening credits, but now we see Tony’s daughter, Meadow, driving the first-ever Chevy Silverado EV. A next-generation Soprano, driving a next-generation vehicle.

Cultural / Context information for the jury

For this film, authenticity is everything. The only people capable of getting it right are the people who made the original. With the show’s creator onboard, we enlisted the original cinematographer, Phil Abraham, to capture specific compositions in a seemingly random way on the same stretch of NJ Turnpike 24 years later. The original actors were included, reprising their roles as Tony’s onscreen children. Ardent viewers, of which there are thousands, will pick up on subtle tributes to the original such as Tony’s daughter, Meadow, driving the truck with a sucker in her mouth in place of Tony’s cigar. There is even a nod to a Sopranos episode where Meadow cannot parallel park, resolved here by the new truck’s four-wheel steering.
