CampaignDescription

All car manufacturers have optimized their websites for mobile use. Nevertheless, they are the data monsters of the World Wide Web: long loading times and high data consumption are frustrating. That's why we developed the all new BMW.com – the new home of the BMW brand – together with Google.

Execution

Our easy to understand formula was “No performance, no fun. Mo’ performance, mo’ fun!” Because what’s the value of super-fancy content if it takes you ages to load on your mobile device. And guess what: everybody agreed since we presented a technical strategy that allows performance and cool creative content at the same time with the combination of Google AMP with PWA technology (Progressive Web App). Not to mention the fact that Google Search ranks AMP pages higher than others, a circumstance that totally fit our strategy of SEO-driven content. So in close collaboration with user experience specialists, designers and editors we started working on the new BMW.com, with our focus turned 100% to the best-ever mobile user experience.

Google's innovative AMP technology makes the new home of the BMW brand the fastest automotive website in the world. The mobile site loads three times faster than before – now in less than 2 seconds.

The use of Progressive Web App ensures intuitive operation on the website, which we are otherwise only used to from native apps. Swiping, scrolling, tapping: With only one finger it can be navigated comfortably throughout the many articles which are teased with ultra-smooth and fast loading videos.
