CampaignDescription
Inspired by this work of Beethoven, we created four unique posters where we combined parts of the original score over harmonious landscapes, where different kinds of animals fill with their movements the same place as each of the musical notes of the original melody.
Execution
Our design goal for this campaign was to create inspiring landscapes in the spirit of the Pastoral Symphony’s Romantic aesthetic that would serve as a backdrop for the creative concept of using animals in movement to illustrate musical notation. Each piece is a photo–illustration comprised of 15 or more individual photographs, carefully retouched and composited and then finished with original illustrations. For the animals, we selected species that are often seen in large dynamic groups that could be easily identified at a distance from their silhouettes only. We placed them on static and tranquil compositions that would further highlight the illusion of movement. A subdued, monochromatic color palette reminiscent of João Salgado’s nature photography was selected to heighten the sense of Romantic drama and to enhance the contrast between the images and the actual score, which we decided to depict in white.
Outcome
No results until May 8th.
Strategy
Creating an exclusive series of posters that captured the essence of the 6th Symphony of Beethoven in order to catch the eye of our target, inviting them to approach, enjoy and understand why Beethoven created this melodies inspired by nature.
