We created the world's first "Taste Drive" and invited Eric Leclerc, "The Man Who Eats Everything" to taste the Ford Kuga and feast on its various parts. Leclerc's verdict: Spectacular!

Execution

We got Eric Leclerc - (Canada's two time magic champion and a figure even better known for his peculiar predilection for eating glass) to feast on our car and tell our audience exactly how well made our car is. He got to test the Streering wheel, sunroof, leather seats and even the engine belt.

A demo movie just wacky enough and visually different to cut through the clutter of people's Facebook feed and make people stop and watch.

Outcome

• 25% of the country watched & shared the "Taste Drive" (adults aged 18+)

• 5 times more Kugas were sold than in 2015

• Extensive local and international media coverage

• People enjoyed watching as average viewership was clocked at 54% – well above average especially for a two and a half minute movie

Sales data and TOM data are still unavailable as the campaign just launched.

Strategy

To make 30+ males looking for a new car aware of the Kuga Crossover and its flawless build, we knew we would have to get hold of consumers through their social feeds. The place where they consume a great deal of their daily content, but also the place they would go to consult friends about what car to buy.

Next we also knew we needed our execution to be salient enough in order to cut through the clutter of other content.

So we created something radical. Extreme: The world's first Taste Drive.

To demonstrate the Kuga is made only from the finest materials we got Eric Leclerc "The Man Who Eats Everything" to taste the Ford Kuga and feast on its various parts. Leclerc's verdict: Spectacular!

The Ford Kuga is a great car. In fact it's probably the most premium crossover in its category. But people didn't know that and they didn't take it into account when they went shopping for a new car.
