EntrySummary

Deforestation in Malaysia is on a dangerous rise. But merely using hard facts and dry news to drive conservation habits have always fallen on deaf ears. Since Malaysia is a nation that’s rich in stories, from the traditional to the modern, we felt that using fairy tales would be a good place to start our conversation.

By using fairy tales that were reimagined in a treeless world, we instantly make our message relevant to the most Malaysians, as ages from 8 to 80 are familiar with these tales. To ensure a wide reach, we showcased our posters at some of the top malls in Malaysia’s capital.

We hand-built four reimagined “unfortunate tales” using mixed media, before photographing them to be turned into our posters. With the rise of deforestation, it only made sense that the original sets were built using reclaimed wood, metal, cloth and other repurposed items.
