The welcome kit design was developed to tell the story of the bank’s commitment to delivering simple banking solutions for its customers through its 'Simpler and Smarter Banking' positioning statement. The creatives which included a fully customized digitally printed/foil-stamped welcome kit box consisting of a letter, wallet and a custom designed preloaded USB card were executed to reveal the program’s benefits in a simple and unexacting manner.

We designed the custom USB cards in the form of a customer credit card that was preloaded with a beautifully designed e-brochure to offer a 'smarter' alternative to print brochures. The luxurious leather wallets which the USB cards were slipped into, also offered the opportunity to be reused as functional fashion accessories.

We designed and produced 6000 units of a fully customized and personalized digitally printed/foil-stamped welcome kit box consisting of a bespoke letter, wallet and a custom designed USB card in the form of a customer credit card which was preloaded with an e-brochure, also developed by our creative team.

The custom boxes were produced with a top lid and bottom tray in a black metallic cardstock finish with a foil stamp print impression and flat foam insert. Enclosed in the box was a 2.60mm thin preloaded and customized Alloy USB Card which pushed the boundaries of tech corporate gift design. Its stunning metallic finish served as a perfect design touchpoint for the bank's intricate brand patterns which were displayed on it in a crisp and professional manner. The card was housed in a leather wallet and was placed with a bespoke letter printed on 80# Classic Crest luxurious paper.

The welcome kits were distributed and received very positively by their clients at the Union Bank Elite and Royalty Banking Launch events.

They were also pivotal to further reinforcing Union Bank's dominance and category leadership across all channels and have become a very effective marketing tool used across the region at their segment banking events and client meetings.

The creative strategy behind the welcome kit design was hinged on the broader strategy of making Union Bank more efficient, competitive, and relevant to customers. Continuing with the 'Simpler and Smarter Banking' positioning of the bank, the new Welcome Kit's design was centered around being 'simpler' and 'smarter' for the bank's emerging middle-class customers.

The bank's visual assets including their brand patterns and segment color palette were executed in a simple and uncluttered manner on the foil-stamped welcome kit box which enclosed a 'smarter' paperless e-brochure preloaded onto a customized USB in the form of a credit card which customers could 'simply' carry along with them in the luxurious leather wallets that were a part of the kits as well.

Following its recent transformational rebrand, Union Bank of Nigeria, one of Nigeria's largest consumer banks with a history stretching back almost a century, commissioned us to refresh their Elite and Royalty banking segment loyalty communications, starting with their Segment Banking Welcome Kits. They wanted to create a personalized experience, eliminating a “one size fits all” approach. The kit had to be relevant to their Elite and Royalty banking clientele across Nigeria in imagery and messaging, promote their services and drive enrollment into the segment programs. The total budget for the project was approximately $89,000 USD.
