Young people can't be committed to an early or forced child marriage if they're already committed to someone else.

So, Plan International APAC will launch Engagement AI, a chatbot bachelor. He’s not just here to offer you a marriage proposal - he’s here to educate you about the dangers of child marriage too.

To launch, we’ll work with a select few unmarried celebrities to create a media buzz by announcing their engagements. Or rather, engAIgements. We’ll follow this up with our engAIgement video to explain the campaign and encourage urban activists to join.

We’ll take over social media with our engAIgement ring filter, allowing activists to announce “I’m EngAIged”, leveraging the trend of high-performing engagement announcements.

We’ll also arm activists with a caption they can use to explain the campaign, and a link to the Engagement AI chatbot – integrated into the Youth Action platform – to educate people on the dangers of child marriage.

Our OOH will be placed on connecting roads and in train stations between urban and rural areas. Interactive ad shells will even disperse 3D printed engagement rings, which young people can collect and wear as part of their own defiance against child marriage.

The shock factor of engAIgements will garner attention from both media and previously disenfranchised activists, and its shareability will help activists see the widespread impact of their efforts. Our Engagement AI gives them an opportunity to face a confronting problem with a bold, exciting solution.
