Background

Rocket Learning create innovative solutions to support communities in India and provide engaging and impactful early childhood education. Their name represents children climbing this metaphorical rocket to go on learning journeys at rocket speed, enabled by technology. Their values centre around action, empowerment, inclusion, empathy, and more. Yet, their visual identity doesn’t reflect this aspirational brand – we were tasked to change this.

We created a logo inspired by Hindi and Marathi typography to represent Rocket Learning’s ‘culturally-rooted yet global in knowledge’ brand in a sophisticated and professional way, while staying true to their name. The tagline encompasses their core values with concise, inspiring, and memorable language that links back to ‘Rocket Learning’. Our mascot further reflects the name while highlighting a key part of Indian communities, as well as communities around the world, for a credible, trustworthy, character that represents a credible, trustworthy, community-driven brand with global potential.

Describe the creative idea

An elevated visual identity to connect Rocket Learning’s visuals and values. The logo links to our target audiences' languages (parents, Anganwadi workers, domestic funders and government officials). It centres ‘Rocket’, making it ownable and recognizable, even to external audiences (international funders/governments).

The tagline summarises the brand’s mission and impact to inspire audiences, reflecting the positive championing values and linking back to the name and story, using words relating to ‘rocket’ – Em[power]ing communities. [Launching] futures.

Our mascot, Nani (a common word for grandma in India), represents a key part of Indian communities – the grandmother that everyone respects. Relatable to parents and Anganwadi workers, lovable to children, and credible and trustworthy to all, she emulates the energy, empathy and sense of community that are core to Rocket Learning’s values.

Describe the execution

The logo resembles Hindi and Marathi but spells ‘Rocket’ in English. It forms a rocket outline pointing right, a nod to propelling children forward – ‘Launching Futures’. This phrase on backgrounds in Hindi emphasises the brand’s impact while adding visual intrigue.

Nani wears a sari and astronaut helmet forming a credible yet playful character, linking to the brand’s name and story. The illustration style is modern and contemporary, without being so different that it alienates our audience. Nani could become the face of the AI chatbot that Rocket Learning use and be adapted to represent grandma's anywhere - Abuella (Spain/Latin America), Teta (Middle East), Nan (UK).

Our colours have meaning in Indian culture, matching the brand’s positive, energetic personality. Green represents beginning (of promising futures) and happiness (children’s/communities’). Pink represents passion (for early education) and prosperity (children’s success). Beige to contrast. The palette adds versatility to the logo and Nani.
