Background

We were asked to create an inspirational integrated campaign to increase women's participation in sport. The client was the Turkish Volleyball Federation, and they wanted the Turkish female volleyball team, the Sultans of the Net, to be at the core of the campaign.

The main goal of the brief was to inspire young girls and teens, while encouraging equal participation of women in sports and leadership.

Campaign idea

We decided to partner up with TVF's most famous partner (listed in their website): McDonald's.

By creating a special edition of the Happy Meal, we aimed to target young girls all around the world through a product they love.

This special edition consisted of a box that became the Happy Meal toy itself. A board game featuring hand-drawn illustrations of every member of the Sultans of the Net. This way, we associated a sport that is popular among girls with a product that represents happiness and fun, thus associating the sport with these feelings.

We figured that if by the time they enter adolescence, the rate of girls dropping out of sports increases drastically (information available on the brief), we should try to reach them earlier on.

We also brought this campaign to the digital world, by creating a landing page where young girls could learn everything about this inspiring team and the sport of volleyball, and even order their own official Sultans of the Net kit, as well as a ball, to start their journey in this exciting sport.
