CampaignDescription
ReMumber changes the unlocking code of an Android mobile or tablet device into the phone number of their parents. So every time your child unlocks the device, they practice your phone number until they know it by heart.
Execution
ReMumber works every time a child unlocks their phone. But to help them learn the number in the beginning, the digits light up so that children gradually learn the correct order of the number. Only the first four digits never light up, this way a stranger can never break into the phone.
On the campaign website, people could see how ReMumber works and learn more about Missing Children Europe. But without any media budget, our entire campaign rested on PR. So on July 6th 2016 –at the beginning of the summer holidays– we sent the press release to national press and organized interviews with radio shows, blogs, etc. Another 14 countries participated and they launched the app in their respective countries based on the Belgian material and mechanic.
Outcome
The PR media value reached 336.355 euros in Belgium alone, which is far bigger than expected. In a few hours, the campaign became trending topic on social networks. Missing Children Europe received great feedback from users and was proposed different free media opportunities to communicate about the campaign during summer.
But most of all, with hundreds of downloads in the first week, we helped a lot of children to remember their parents’ phone numbers in just 2 days. And a lot of families spent their holidays with ease of mind, knowing their children could contact them in any kind of emergency.
Relevancy
By changing the unlocking code of their smartphone into the phone number of their parents, children had to actively engage dozens of times a day with ReMumber and type in the correct phone number to unlock their phone.
Strategy
Children unlock their phone dozens of times a day by entering their passcode. But this number is usually totally random and meaningless.
ReMumber changes that random number into the telephone number of their parents’. This way they’re practising their parents’ phone number all day long until they know it by heart.
The repeated action makes the number go engraved in their brain and in their fingers, also known as ‘muscle memory’. So in whichever situation they find themselves, if there’s any phone available, they can call their parents.
With more and more young children getting smartphones around the world, ReMumber can help every child to memorise their parents’ phone number.
Synopsis
More and more kids have smartphones.
So this generation doesn’t remember phone numbers by heart anymore.
But what if they lose their phone, or their battery dies? What if there’s a situation where your kid needs to contact you but doesn’t know your phone number?
Missing Children Europe works on preventing children to go missing, and want all children to memorize their parents’ phone number in case of an emergency. Especially since 1 in 5 children gets lost at some stage during holidays.
