Description

4HER is a resource that is specifically designed to help women who have been diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer. The 4HER app provides support and information for women with HER2-positive breast cancer.

Execution

Genentech started the process by asking patients what they thought would be useful. One of the suggestions was guided meditation, for example, that patients could listen to via headphones as they sat in treatment waiting rooms. Another suggestion was a game, "so you can just take a break and escape."

Outcome

Genentech launched its "4HER" app in October for women diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer. In the first three months, the app was downloaded about 1,600 times from Apple Inc.'s iTunes store.
