To express how important reading is, aMAZEme is a huge maze built with 1/4 million books.
Oxfam has book shops chains spread all over the United Kingdom as well as a ware house for the on line book sales. They supported the installation by donating a great number of books for the build. The other part came from donations Hungry Man London office raised from UK publishers.
The viewers were completelly surounded by a sea of books. The books can be placed in a different sites, wich can give another person the opportunity to view them in a different part.
Outcome
Oxfam, a charity foundation who works with others to overcome poverty and suffering, paired with the agency to reach the audience that attended the 2012 Summer Olympics. It was their hope to inspire and create a social realisation of the importance of books and community. One that was reached monetarily as throughout the community. Afterwards, all the books were donated back to Oxfam to create global outreach.
