Description

Anouk Wipprecht has made a name for herself by combining fashion and technology. Audi aspires to lead the automotive field in terms of technology and design.

While new and unique, the collaboration of the two seems almost inevitable in hindsight. Pushing and extending each other’s boundaries and gathering the fruits of such labor quickly yielded beautiful results, which were further honed and improved in several steps, culminating in an insightful, impressive and truly unique show presenting a collection that rephrases core assets of the new Audi A4 into breath-taking, highly intelligent fashion.

Execution

Anouk Wipprecht came to Berlin with 3 assistants for 6 weeks. Together with Audi automotive designers, they entered an intense exchange of ideas, derived plans and concrete designs, which were produced and printed in 3D. A diamond shape derived from the A4 radiator grill was a fundamental point of conceptual orientation for the LED Matrix Light Dress. A technological center-piece of the new car that provided insights and orientation for the Projection Map Dress, is the Audi Virtual Cockpit. Both offer programmable media surfaces with the artists of monomango collaborating in the creation of the mapping content for the dress. The fashion show at Audi City Berlin presented Anouk Wipprecht’s creations, with the models walking in front of the floor-to-ceiling Power Walls, which were programmed with video content designed specifically for the dresses. The audience in attendance was mixed, with backgrounds in the fashion, design and automotive industries.

Outcome

600 influencers were reached directly during the fashion show and the Fashion Tec appearance.

The media response in the fashion and automotive press was international and wide-ranging, with coverage in outlets like WIRED, BOLD and Make: Magazine USA.

And this story is ongoing: Anouk has grown close to Audi and promotes the collection independently, preparing it's expansion for the Chinese market.

The dresses of Anouk Wipprecht’s Audi A4 collection are on display at »Le Lieu du Design Paris« beginning in Spring 2016.
