Background

PlayStation Store is commerce without limits. Whatever you crave, whenever you crave it ¬– it’s here. In this expansive world of commerce, the Merchant’s Bazaar borrows from the visual cues of an old world market, but with a magical, timeless quality that only PlayStation could bring you. Every inch of the bazaar is an adventure waiting. Every character, a story yet to be told. Every experience you could ever imagine is only a few feet away. From Call of Duty door breaches, to Spider-Man’s New York skyline to the terraces of an epic FIFA 19 match – if it can be played it can be bought at PlayStation Store.

Execution

The Merchant’s Bazaar was created from the imagination of all those who collaborated on this project. The project started with a shell of a market built by the art department inside an abandoned aluminum factory. Provided with a number of IP Easter eggs, most of the market was pure fiction. From Victorian zombies, to a post-apocalyptic feminist militia, nearly 150 customers were created from scratch by wardrobe, art department and hair and make-up, and then augmented in post. Once shot, the world was embellished through CG effects both on ground level and in an epic aerial wideshot spanning the market and beyond. Characters, drones, droids, and polar bears were added to scenes. Door breaches were embellished. Magical signage created. And in the final aerial shot, a FIFA 19 stadium was married into our environment, and an epic skyline was created out of thin air.
