Background

Following the 2018 merger between BBC Studios and BBC Worldwide we needed to craft an identity for the production arm of the business by developing and articulating individual personalities for each production unit. To drive understanding, saliency and distinctiveness of our production brands in a highly competitive, disruptive global market. Simplifying brand attribution, creating a harmonizing brand identity system that celebrates and gives presence to each of our production entities but is also unified within a BBC Studios production Masterbrand portfolio.

Idea

To create a brand architecture that established clear identities for each Genre and Production Unit to build brand reputation globally. To demonstrate the breadth and range of genres within our production portfolio and present BBC Studios Productions as compelling and distinctive.

An expressive toolkit that empowers each team to create visually striking communications with a strong brand behaviour.

Execution

The new visual identity for BBC Studios Productions is more than just a suite of logos: it’s a cohesive and engaging visual system that utilises name, expression, photography, motion, typography and colour to celebrate and communicate each brands unique value. A harmonizing system gives presence to each of our production entities unified within a BBC Studios production Masterbrand portfolio.

Outcome

The identity will be launched and rolled out this year - toolkits, logos, motion assets, endboards, presentation templates, brand guidelines along with a new BBC Studios Productions website.
