Description
Gatorade created three new films in styles directly inspired from the original Be Like Mike song lyrics.
In Move Like Mike two young athletes train and draw inspiration from Jordan to bring the iconic commercial to life. In Groove Like Mike the iconic Be Like Mike commercial is taken into a fresh new animated world. And in Dream Like Mike a young athlete’s dream of playing one-on-one with Jordan in his driveway becomes a reality.
Execution
The campaign was launched during the NBA All Star Weekend and a live event was held that allowed teen athletes to learn about Jordan’s biggest moments by actually reliving them. The winner of the 2015 Slam Dunk Contest even did his own Be Like Mike impression to win the event.
Outcome
#BeLikeMike was used over a staggering 100 million times, and video views totaled over 40 million. . The winner of the 2015 Slam Dunk Contest even did his own Be Like Mike impression to win the event. Pro athletes including Usain Bolt and Serena Williams even joined in by showing how they could be like Mike. All proving that 23 years later everyone still wants to be like Mike.
