Description

Instead of creating another ad, Volvo offered a solution that addressed our target’s wants and need. We do this because we continually focus on protecting what is important to our target.

This solution came in the form of a product which offered an alternative way for people to wash their cars. We offered Consciously Clean, a waterless product that can be used to wash cars; allowing our target to save up to 530 liters of water per wash. We then distributed it through our Volvo dealers so our target could do their part to help with water conservation.

By providing a product that offers a solution for an alternative way to for people to wash their cars, Consciously Clean helps save up to 530 liters of water per wash, a potential 4 million liters of water conserved throughout the state.

Execution

Consciously Clean is a spray-on/wipe off cleaner that can be used as an alternative to traditional car washes. The cleaner safely removes surface contaminates and will leave cars spotless. The solution is formulated to lift away dirt from car’s paint and is designed to ensure a scratch-free finish. The powerful surfactants break down road grime, while polymers leave a smooth and protected finish. Plus, the spray-on method eliminates untreated runoff and conserves 20-100 gallons of water per wash.

Every 16oz. bottle of Consciously Clean yields 3.2 car washes and can be used to clean an entire vehicle without a hose. It comes in a ready-to-use solution and consumers can simply spray the solution onto a microfiber cloth or a cool car surface, gently wipe off the car to wipe away dirt, and then use a 2nd dry towel to buff and shine.

Consciously Clean uses a solution that is safe and non-toxic that fully complies with California’s Proposition 65, which protects the state’s drinking water sources from being contaminated with chemicals. It is made with 100% biodegradable surfactants and relies on bio-based ingredients from soy, corn and palm. The product does not contain petroleum-solvents or synthetic fragrances.

Outcome

Consciously Clean is a product that offsets the negative environmental impact of water waste in a very real way. This is especially important during the dire drought situation in California. Traditional car washes can use up to 530 Liters per wash. Each 16 oz. bottle can fulfill 3.2 car washes, which leads to an offset of up to 1696 liters of water saved with the use of Consciously Clean. Not only does each bottle of Consciously Clean save water, it’s also a cost-effective alternative to keep cars clean. Additionally, California has strict rules in place to prevent residents from washing their cars with water – Consciously Clean provides an environmentally safe, and legal, solution.

Volvo offered a solution of 2,380 - 16 oz. bottles of Consciously Clean, which equated to a potential savings of 4,036,156 liters of water.
