Description

We used digitization to create a game, in which people could outgrow themselves just like they can outgrow their own business with digitization: the biggest digital high striker duel. A game, in which there can only be one digital champion at the end and a battle over the digital supremacy between the two biggest rival cities in Germany - Cologne and Düsseldorf.

The Deutsche Telekom Digital Derby.

Execution

We had 4 months from idea to execution: A high striker duel on the TV towers of Germany's most rivaled cities, an event with over 600 participants, a 3hour YouTube live show from two locations with guest like Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko, professional celebrity hosts and 12 cameras. A 3D mapping was projected onto both towers, triggered by the power of a hit in each location and thus made two big landmarks even bigger communication platforms - and lighthouses of the digitization.

Outcome

More than one out of every ten citizens based in Cologne and Düsseldorf participated in the derby - either as player or viewer. We achieved 600.000 live views and over 7 million hits on YouTube. Hit by hit the Deutsche Telekom Digital Derby got from a "talk of town" to the hot discussed topic in press, online, social media and all over the country.
