Description
The intention of this anti drunk driving commercial was to change the mindset of South African drivers. To do so it needed to be powerful and hard-hitting. The classic production approach was avoided, instead we engaged in guerrilla casting techniques in the ganglands of Cape Town. We went straightto the source with the director going in person to find thereal characters. We were looking for ex-convicts who had been in the prison system for 10-20 years. The objective was to get the authentic performances from the real hardened inmates high up in the prison hierarchy. Their performances were real, hard and cutting as they were drawing on real prison life experiences.The South African male nemesis was created in this manner.Go ahead drink and drive, but know this…‘Pappa wag vir jou’ (daddy’s waiting for you).
