Description

There’s a lot to think about when you move from one home to another, and the electricity contract isn’t what first comes into mind. In the film we see a young couple moving to an apartment across town, trying to bring the electricity along.

Execution

Energy Company Fortum wanted to show how modern technology makes it possible to spread a lot of joy with just a little electricity. We dressed everyday things in Stockholm with imaginative lights – a trashcan, a birdhouse, an electric cabinet, an old bicycle and so on. We focused on bland city objects that you normally would just pass without taking notice. The public could participate by sharing pictures of the installations and the best picture every day was rewarded with a nice Christmas gift.

(Print, web, outdoor, Subways/buses, event/installations of light, internal material)

Outcome

Next to each of the installations we placed small signs telling about the project and also encouraging passers-by to take a photo and spreading it. More than 500 pictures were labelled #fortumjul during the campaign, reaching thousands of followers (and still numerous Instagram pictures were not tagged). On Fortum’s Facebook page the campaign was put into a wider context. Subjects like energy efficiency and price value was exemplified and commented on. The posts generated a lot of attention and helped double Fortum’s number of followers in just 2 weeks.
