Description

Our film follows a day in the life of 3 women who have a problem gambler in their life. We hear the stories they haven’t told before, about hurt, blame and confusion they have to deal with.

We meet Lucy, whose husband gambles, and has been for some time.

She’s learnt that just dealing with his problem is the way of life to be able to provide for the kids. She has no one to talk to about it and doesn’t know what to do.

Then we meet Rosa, whose son gambles, and she worries about him and his family. She thinks that maybe she could have done something differently to avoid this.

We then meet Chloe. Her dad is a gambler and she feels like she’s missing out on the normal side of growing up. Dealing with things that no teenager should have to worry about.

As the day draws to an end, we see Lucy arrive at home, where Rosa greets her. Chloe follows behind and catches the two having a moment before they walk inside. We learn the three women are related, and have been talking about the one gambler who affects them all in different ways.

Execution

The fully integrated campaign was launched in April 2015 to align with school holidays finishing when our core audience were back to normal routines.

Sharable content was created in order to create a sense of community and support among the target audience, while target media drove traffic to the website.

The campaign was executed through:

- Campaign films seeded across online channels including YouTube & Facebook

- Digital and mainstream PR

- Real interviews with struggling family members seeded across online channels

- Digital display banners, pre rolls/traditional media to support message across the state

Outcome

In the first few weeks of the campaign (launched mid April 2015), our film has reached close to half a million views across multiple online channels (mostly Facebook), generating organic reach through social conversation, greatly exceeding expectations.
