Disney contacted Powerade about promoting Goal!, since soccer (football) is Mexico's "national sport" and the star of the move is Mexican. The concept was to create a special Powerade flavor to tie in with the movie and also to create a special label to "celebrate" Goal!.

Outcome

The campaign resulted in increased sales for Powerade during the promotion and box office of over $3 million (US) for the film.
