Description
In France, wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle has never been compulsory, and people rarely feel compelled to do so, whether for themselves or their children. They believe one can't get badly hurt riding a bicycle….
But bicycle accidents can be very serious, particularly for kids : at 10 km/h the risk of loss of consciousness is 98% for children without helmets, compared to only 0.1% for children wearing helmets.
Sécurité Routière (France's Road Safety Authority) has therefore made helmet use compulsory for children under the age of 12. But how can we make parents aware of this new mandate and of the importance of abiding by it?
Our answer:
"Without a bike helmet, your child risks getting more than just a booboo"
The idea of a serious injury being tended to as if it were a minor scratch is both shocking and disquieting, and highlights the absolute necessity of wearing a bikehelmet
