Description

In different times St.Petersburg was the place where various famous people lived and worked. That’s why almost every street has one or another wall plaque. We decided to take advantage of this recognizable city image and launched the outdoor campaign "Houses of homeless". On the houses, we have placed about 100 unique commemorative plaques telling about those who once lost their homes and had to live in basements, porches, yards and attics of St. Petersburg. All of them are made of cardboard, which is habitually associated with the homeless life. The project is based on real stories of people who were looking for help from a charitable organization “Nochlezhka”.

Execution

On the houses, we have placed about 100 unique commemorative plaques telling about those who once lost their homes and had to live in basements, porches, yards and attics of St. Petersburg. All of them are made of cardboard, which is habitually associated with the homeless life. The project is based on real stories of people who were looking for help from a charitable organization “Nochlezhka”. The "Houses of homeless" campaign has caused wide feedback in society and in news Media: dozens of TV and radio broadcasts, numerous newspaper articles, hundreds of publications and reposts in social networks. The traffic of the “Nochlezhka” foundation website increased by 2,5 times and the number of subscribers in official groups grew by 38 percent.

The funds collected in only the first week were enough to provide overnight accommodation for more than 1,000 people.
