Because “Lawyer” was set in such a specific world, the director had to cast a narrower net to find actors that felt more like genre archetypes. Actors that were distinctly heroes or villains. So many big legal blockbusters are American, but production was casting in the UK, so the director tried to find actors that were decent at doing an American accent. In the case of “Lawyer,” Cindy Humphrey wasn’t comfortable trying an American accent, but she was so good and smartly funny that we cast her anyway.
