Description

This film tells a personal story about Stephen Curry and uses it to send a bigger brand message.

It sits within the polarizing cultural moment that Curry has created in basketball and frames it against his personal story of redemption heading into a new season.

The film is a word-led piece featuring Curry and real kids from across The Bay Area. The words poke at Curry, blurring and overlapping to create a bombastic verse, written to feel like the new language of basketball that reflects the way Curry plays the game.

The film splits between two different visual worlds:

Curry features throughout in a stylized neon-lit space, surrounded by the army of kids —his pioneering approach to basketball reflected with the oxygen mask and reflex lights.

The kids are found at home and on court across the Bay area - together sending a message to their icon as the season begins.

Execution

Curry has inspired a generation of ballers who want to play like him, live like him and emulate him. So it was important to use real kids in this film to send his message. This gives the film more depth and helps it resonate authentically within a sport that knows outsiders when it sees them.

Over five days we street-cast young ballers across the Bay Area who were between the ages of five and eighteen. We selected first for playing ability, ensuring that they were good enough to be symbols of a new type of young genius. We then filtered these kids to create a rich cast that would characterfully carry the film, sending the message in a unique way .

Together these kids represent the voices of the Bay Area, to inspire Stephen Curry as well as the new generation of ballers following in his footsteps.
