Description

“Me & Me” is shot from the perspective of two personas of the same stroke victim. It tells the story of a disabled patient who has suffered a recurrent stroke and his alter ego who appears, dextrous, capable and piteously reflective. “Me & Me” aims to highlight the benefit of AstraZeneca’s platelet aggregator ‘BRILINTA’ by illustrating the potential devastation of secondary strokes in contrast with the opportunities maintained through timely and effective treatment.

Outcome

The piece was directed with the aim of achieving visual subtlety in the midst of a very simple message. In the choice between 'me' and 'me', everyone knows who they would choose. As such, there was an effort not to have the visuals appear obtuse.

The director's desire was to make the piece feel as realistic as possible in order to elicit an emotional reaction. As such, the actor was instructed to keep his facial movements and actions slight to achieve this end. The director wanted to convey that this could happen to anyone, and the effects of which are something the viewer can feel connected to. The close-up camera intentionally captures the tiny expressions of emotion on the suited character's face in comparison with the vacancy of the wheelchair character, conveying the contrast between the inhibited and uninhibited lives of the respective characters.
