Description

There are many products on the market that promise to offer a ‘mobile office’ solution.

But a truly mobile office is much more than just a phone with email capabilities or a laptop with an Internet connection. Microsoft can actually offer their clients a truly mobile office solution - so they can send mail and faxes, schedule meetings, share documents, log into their intranet and much more while out of the office.

Our brief was to grab the attention of a market (small- and medium-sized business owners) who’ve heard this message before.

Execution

We stayed away from the typical stock shot of a businessman on the beach with his laptop, and instead created an unexpected yet relevant dimensional mail pack.

Small and medium-sized business owners were sent a box with the message ‘Welcome to your new office space’ printed on the outside.

Inside they found a real trouser pocket, made of suit fabric, and inside the pocket was a brochure and personalised letter which explained how Microsoft could offer them a truly mobile office.

The reader was invited to call a Microsoft Partner or visit a microsite for more information.

Outcome

The 3D mailer was sent to a high-propensity list of small and medium-sized business owners, and was used as a sales tool when Microsoft partners met with clients. A less expensive 2D adaptation was mailed to a medium-propensity list. The campaign achieved the highest response rate of all campaigns run for these products by Microsoft South Africa, with a 17% response rate.
