The 35-minute documentary follows the stories of how eight courageous children and their families face the journey of childhood cancer. The film is emotional in the ways you would expect, but more importantly in the ways you would not. It is filled with laughter, smiles and a special relationship with a robotic stuffed animal. As stated by one of the featured heroic mothers, “even if there were cures found, you will still have to have treatment.”
My Special Aflac Duck® receives chemotherapy alongside its child. Together, they eat, bathe and virtually explore the world through augmented reality. It’s a caring companion that ensures no child has to face cancer alone.
Through intimate interviews, the film shares the heartbreak, fear, determination and hope experienced daily. With confidence instilled by a caring companion, we see the personalities of these kids shine, which reveals an unlikely theme: joy.
