Description

We wanted to continue the brand’s long legacy of advocacy by not just telling the stories of diverse communities, but giving them our megaphone to tell their own stories.

By design, both More Than T and Trans102 are virtually unbranded. The focus is on the people and stories within both projects, not on the brand itself. We wanted to highlight not only the hardships and issues the community faces, but also the joys and personal triumphs.

More Than T is a feature-length documentary organized into six vignettes to put each subject into full focus. Trans102 is deliberately witty, pithy and lighthearted to make learning about the trans community accessible to the masses. It’s a PSA with humor and is organized by subject matter, including gender pronouns, sexuality, school and work.

Execution

We wanted as many people to see these stories as possible so distribution was important to us, but media spend was tight. With that in mind, we worked to secure two earned distribution routes - Showtime for More Than T and Refinery29 for Trans102.

More Than T premiered on Showtime nationwide on June 23, 2017 in celebration of LGBT Pride Month and Trans102 began to roll out that same month on Refinery29.com and Refinery29 social platforms.

Outcome

More Than T was lauded by media including Fast Company, IndieWire, Bustle, Refinery29, Out Magazine and the Los Angeles Times. Trans102 has received over 8 million views across Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Refinery29.com.

In addition to its placement on Showtime and Showtime’s streaming platforms, More Than T has been shown to audiences at 7 film festivals around the world from Denmark to Greece to Seattle.
