OVERVIEW

Description

We open in Roy’s home. We can hear him talking as we slowly track through his house into the kitchen where we then see him and eavesdrop on him reminiscing about his family and past Christmases. The camera and the focus draws ever closer until he breaks his story to pop his meal-for-one into the oven. It is at this point that we realise he is in fact alone and talking to himself. His story resolves with him reflecting on the recent death of his wife and admitting to the loneliness he has been suffering ever since. The film ends with a picture of the real Roy and James Bolam the actor together on set to fully lift the veil on our tribute to this real lonely older person. We conclude with a message about this major issue of loneliness in the UK and how Age UK are combatting it.
