Background
For the theatrical release of NOPE, Universal Pictures, Monkeypaw Productions, and Meta partnered to create a first of its kind immersive VR experience in the Metaverse (Horizon Worlds on Meta Quest 2).
Idea
The multi-world VR experience begins with Monkeypaw Productions: All Aboard, in which users find themselves as passengers on the Monkeypaw train before traveling to other worlds. Inside, you can walk around the cabins and find Easter eggs from the movies NOPE, Get Out, and Us. Fans can then explore a recreation of Haywood’s Ranch that features easter eggs, iconic Jordan Peele visuals, interactive elements and games, and hidden exclusive content.
Execution
The campaign continued to drive fan excitement with an on-site demo at the Jupiter’s Claim experiential event at Universal Studios Hollywood and a virtual press junket with the avatars of Jordan Peele, Keke Palmer, and Brandon Perea.
Fan interest was rewarded with the first movie ticket giveaway from Fandango in Horizon World, spurring a virtual gold rush to find a hidden easter egg that unlocked the promotion.
