The German-American friendship goes back a long way, and like many old friendships has grown a little distant. So we decided to revive this old friendship to raise awareness of Oreo on Facebook in Germany. We sent Helmut out to call for help on the American Oreo Facebook page and ask, “Twist, lick, what…?” In parallel we then launched an app that allowed American Oreo fans help Helmut and all Germans. And in German!
Outcome
That way more than 16,000 discussions were started. The blogging community was also buzzing with the story. In the end Oreo had more than 63,000 new Facebook fans from Germany! Many of them used the app to send a big 'Dankeschön' back across the Atlantic.
