Background

Gen-Z are extremely outcome driven.. Since they have it all going on, all the time, living super busy lives, their behaviors focus on getting to the essence of things. Which means they have low tolerance for anything they deem non-essential, and hate to waste a single second on anything they’re not enjoying.

Our brief was to to recruit Gen Z non sugar drinkers who wouldn’t consider regular Sprite by developing a distinctive proposition for Sprite Zero Sugar within Sprite’s unified global ‘Heat Happens’ platform. To deliver a campaign that positions Sprite Zero Sugar not only as a desirable choice that doesn’t compromise on taste, but also as the ultimate cool down, capable of stripping away the heat of the non-essential with nothing but ice-cold Lemon-Lime refreshment.

Execution

Since this campaign was launching in multiple markets around the world, we shot each film using multiple talents directing them with precise performances to facilitate asynchronistic sound. So, as part of the post production, the processes of editing, scriptwriting and sound mixing all informed one another so that our global audiences would be none the wiser that they were watching redubbed versions.

The roles editing, colour grading and sound were also applied in tandem to create a disruptive – yet also serene – change of mood and pace. Using an exaggerated ‘pschhht’ SFX as our trigger, we crafted an immersive soundscape of ASMR-esque bubbles, fizzing and whooshes as way to suck the view in, pushing the hues and tones away from warm to cool, and squashing the heated dialogue to sound drowned out by the mere opening of a Sprite Zero Sugar.

Outcome

This Sprite Zero campaign has only just been launched in North America. With roll out continuing in many more markets and regions globally over the coming months. Building on the incredible success of the new global platform 'Heat Happens. Stay Cool' a year prior. It aims to promote the same ultimate refreshment without the sugar and in these executions the 'unnecessary fluff'. Giving more options to consumers from the Sprite brand in this fast-growing sector of zero calorie soft drinks.
