Execution
The show’s massive cult following has an affinity for its gory, gruesome nature, so we served up something that would deliver on those characteristics. By using giant rotting zombie hands as our countdown we stayed true to the show’s branding and zombie-centric nature, while giving our gore-loving audience something relevant to interact with and share. It’s something that’s never been done before, and our installation had incredible stopping power, which was testament to its originality and creativity, given that it was located in Toronto’s busiest commuter hub, where people are always rushing to move through.
Outcome
The quality of the responses was phenomenal and they were consistently positive. The only negative comments were complaints from fans wanting a Rotting Finger Countdown in their city. As a result, we gained over 18 million Twitter impressions, countless Facebook impressions worldwide, and more than 900,000 free impressions in Toronto’s biggest media outlets. Across Canada our content netted more than 3.2 million post impressions and over 11,000 new Canadian Facebook fans. Awareness and anticipation spread further because of coverage gained on over 40 blogs from all over the world, who all shared the content because of its news-worthy creativity.
