We placed an interactive banner above the masthead of the #1 digital newspaper in Spain and the number #1 Spanish language digital newspaper in the world, elmundo.es.

When consumers signed on to elmundo.es, their computer screens were transformed into a virtual Samsung Galaxy Tablet. Viewers could read the news, scroll through content, and even view flash videos, all as if they were engaging with a real Samsung Galaxy Tab.Users used the virtual tablet’s menu to watch a short film – in flash -- about the sleek design of Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab, as well as access a special microsite showcasing Galaxy Tab’s stand-out features, including its compatibility with flash format.

Outcome

Our action achieved over 4m impressions in one day, putting a virtual Galaxy Tab on the desks of 1.5 consumers at a cost of €.03 each.The virtual Galaxy Tab accumulated nearly 1 million interactions with an average dwell rate 330% higher than the telecom sector’s average.The action was a media first and results echoed across the marketplace. Other digital newspapers immediately jumped at the chance to have their digital version featured in the virtual Galaxy Tablet.Last but not least, Samsung Galaxy Tablet sales increased by 245% in the most important key sales period.
