The music of Fyfe & Iskra Strings has been chosen to highlight the thrill of flight felt in the film:

The film opens up with a shot in the clouds, we feel the sky’s immensity, its mystery and danger which sticks to the opening moment of the music: the introduction of the song is subtle and epic, smooth but full of meaning. Then, in the shot where Jake Gyllenhaal risks himself to explore the weightlessness city cloud, the action is expressed by a viola arpeggio, as worrying as moving, pressing the fact that we don’t know what the hero is going to discover. The rest of the film leads us into a synchronized crescendo between the images (moto shot, speed, the protagonist in the air, the plane’s figures…) and the music (gaining power).

Then, the calm. Jake seems to have regained a « balance » (close shot on the watch; representation of stability, time control) and he opens his eyes facing the camera with a confident gaze. Meanwhile, the music is calm again and dissipate little by little.
