The vision of the direction here was to capture the authenticity of what it felt to be around such positivity amidst the tragedy that struck the residents of the island. We spoke closely to the affected locals and sought ideas how to bring light to the issue that took place unexpectedly. They happily took part in telling their stories, allowing us to also film their practices of rebuilding, and it tied well together with a light touch to the matter. As the Director was also a survivor in the island while the typhoon hit, he witnessed people holding water bottles, looking for a drink and realized this is not the narrative he wanted to portray. The goal is to show how empowered the people of Siargao are with their high spirits, they claimed they will recover at the soonest possible time, merely days even after they were put down.
