Description
To launch poker at SkyCity Casino we invited all of Auckland to play a gigantic game of poker. We dealt out a full 52 card pack all over the city. You might see an ace on the back of a bus. A king, queen and jack on a billboard. Or even find a two of clubs on staff tee-shirts at SkyCity. Contestants could email in their photographed poker hands.
The best hand won $10 000. Well, it was a game of poker!
Execution
The campaign was launched with various playing card executions going out across a mixture of media including billboard, press, magazine, and posters.
At the same time, separate press and radio ads ran explaining that if you photographed and collected these cards you could enter your strongest hand online. The best hand would win $10 000.We developed a special website with promotion details and conditions, letsplaypoker.co.nz. More radio ads over the two-month campaign updated people about where new cards might be found. In the end the best hand, a straight flush, walked away with the $10 000.
