Execution

The idea had to overcome three hurdles:a) The socialsitter app had to function 100% automatically within the Facebook systemb) Facebook had to approve the app (which required many discussions, e-mails and phone calls)c) The promotion had to virally spread through the Web without any financial seeding

Outcome

Within the first period of results (3 months), around 10,000 Facebook users set up a socialsitter. At peak times, this amounted to up to 1,100 profiles a day. The socialsitter was the topic of discussion and reports in over 1,000 blogs, in the press, on the radio and TV – all the way to China. The new, creative word 'socialsitter' is already listed in over 34,000 Google search results.
