Description
Getty Images possesses an extensive archive of sport images. The task was to create a mailing campaign for German-speaking sport editors that would inform them of the archive and generate more enquiries.
Execution
An invitation to visit their own personal website surprised sport editors. In three simple stick-man animations, the editors could amusingly and with a bit of embellishment relive great moments in sport: Mike Tyson biting off the ear of Evander Holyfield, Zidane headbutting Materazzi to the turf, and Ralf Schumacher overtaking a Ferrari in the air. Afterwards, the three matching photos had to be selected from a range of images. Those who participated were eligible to win tickets for the final of the 2008 European Football Championship. The message: Great moments in sport - great images. Getty Images has them all.
Outcome
The relevance of Getty Images sport photography was made into an experience for the editors. From 3,500 sport editors who received the invitation, 23% took part in the contest. Supported by follow-up telephone calls, the revenue from sport editorial images doubled in comparison with 2006: 28% sales increase.
